About Ithaca

Ithaca is a new roguelike game currently in development. At the moment, it is at an early-Alpha stage, meaning that much of the code has been implemented and tested, but significant functionality is yet to be added. There is a demonstration version available for download from ?

Details:

Ithaca is set in a post-apocalyptic future that owes more to Shadow Run than to Mad Max. This future is populated by many different sub races of human, amongst other species, as well as technology from the past, present and future, all available for use by the player.

The player begins in the middle of a desolate land, somewhere between two feuding cities. All you want is peace in your land, and yet these two cities seem intractable in their conflict. The only solution available is to make your way to one of the cities and topple its leadership.

Along the way you will encounter a huge variety of non-player characters (NPCs), made up from a mix of Humans, Orcs, Trolls, Mutants, Aliens and many more. Some will be immediately aggressive, some will ignore you, and some will even assist if you get into a fight, depending on the relative alignment of the parties involved.

If you are unfortunate, you may even encounter a special class of enemy, known only as the Nemesis. These special enemies are the computer controlled equivalent of you; they are always active, they explore areas, collect items, gain experience and levels, and are deadly strategists.

In order to combat these dangerous beasties, you collect a huge variety of items, ranging from medieval weapons and armor, to modern guns and kevlar, to futuristic force fields and energy weapons. You can also collect other types of items, such as body and skill upgrades that can be implanted at the local surgeon, and a number of other useful items like explosives, various types of ammunition, and so on.
